Bengaluru, Feb 27: A desi missile safe destruction programme developed by Mysuru-based MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) Kaynes Technology is currently under evaluation.
Christened ESAFS (Electronic Safe Arm and Fire System), the devise helps the self destruction of a missile, during its testing and actual operational phases. Missile(s) that veer off from its intended trajectory can be brought down immediately with the help of ESAFS. The company is in the field of defence for the last eight years.
ESAFS is now under evaluation at DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI) laboratory in Hyderabad. RCI is one of the leading labs under DRDO’s Missile Complex.
In an exclusive interview to OneIndia (during the just-concluded Aero India 2015), Lt Col Sharath Bhat (Retd), Senior Vice President, Business Development, Kaynes Technology, said that ESAFS, is a real-time, dual-redundant and fault-tolerant on-board devise.
ESAFS can pick up signals that are unauthorised or unrecognised in nature. It consists of two identical controller cards and one power supply card for distributing power supply requirements of both controller cards.

AFS Yelahanka (Bengaluru), Feb 15: Samtel Avionics is among the few companies that got on to the Make in India wagon almost a decade ago, before such a concentrated campaign was launched in the country. Samtel’s MoU with the Defence Avionics Research Establishment (DARE), a DRDO lab in Bengaluru way back in 2004, set the pace for the company to get into the Make in India mode, delivering home-grown products.
In a freewheeling interview ahead of the 10th edition of Aero India, set to begin at AFS Yelahanka on February 18, Puneet Kaura, Executive Director, Samtel Avionics, told OneIndia that the MoU with DARE opened up new avenues for the company.
“The MoU was to develop indigenous technologies to facilitate production of rugged multifunction displays (MFDs) in India. This technology was successfully deployed on Su-30 MKIs under the Samtel-HAL JV. Later, we formed a JV with HAL to address the avionics requirements including Test Benches and Systems for all HAL star platforms - both fixed and rotary wing,” Puneet said.

#MI2Watch: System changes in MoD must for Make in India's success: Mohan Reddy

By Dr Anantha Krishnan M

Hyderabad, Feb 12: Much before Prime Minister Narendra Modi shaped the Make in India campaign module, Cyient Limited, an engineering, data analytics, networks and operations solutions company, headquartered in Hyderabad, had probably gone some distance in realizing his dreams. With 35 per cent of the revenue already coming from aerospace engineering, Cyient has set its eye to become a leader in aircraft engine systems and sub-systems.
In an exclusive interview to OneIndia, during a recent visit to Cyient facilities in Hyderabad, B V R Mohan Reddy, Founder and Executive Chairman, said: “Cyient has the capability to partner with government-owned defence companies in India. But we need better systems in place to inspire the private sector. We need to rationalize the process we have. The Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) needs change,” Reddy said, who is also the Vice Chairman of NASSCOM.
