Lt Gen. Chengappa calls on Kerala CM

 General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka (ATNK & K) Area, Lt General BK Chengapa called on the Chief Minister of Kerala Shri VS Achuthanandan here today. He held wide ranging discussions with the Chief Minister on the prevailing security scenario and on issues related to welfare of ex-servicemen. He was accompanied by Pangode Station Commander Brig Krishan Kumar and Station Staff Officer Col SK Suresh.
During the meeting, General Chengapa highlighted issues of allotment of land in various districts for the Ex-Servicemen health scheme, employment opportunities for the retired soldiers and reservation of wards of serving and retired soldiers in professional colleges in the State of Kerala. They also discussed the aspects of coastal security in the state. The General assured the Chief Minister of the spontaneous assistance of the Army when required.
 The General visited various military installations in Kerala on his maiden visit after assuming charge as GOC of ATNK & K Area. During the day, the General also met Shri Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore.
