Indian business capital Mumbai will host the country’s first three-day international symposium--MRO India 2011--beginning March 16. The event will spotlight some of the latest trends and technologies in the global aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) arena. Though the MRO business is still developing in India, most airline and airport stakeholders are gearing up to tap the potential of this emerging sector.
“With the rapid growth rate being witnessed in the Indian aerospace sector and the expected expansion in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in the coming decade, the need for advanced MRO facilities within the country is paramount. The exhibition is expected to showcase market offerings from a series of exhibitors, including Air Works India, Max Aerospace, Tri-County Aerospace Inc., Heico Aerospace, Turkish Technic, AAXICO, Partsbase, the Society of Indian Aerospace Technology and Industries and ADS UK Group,” says an organizer.
C.G. Krishnadas Nair, managing director of Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL), tells Aviation Week that the MRO 2011 show will be an “historic gathering,” given that India has never attempted an exhibit of this size before.
